Make Money From Horse Racing

Make Money From Horse Racing

Making money from horse racing is not as difficult as you might think

There is a common mistake that finding a winner in a race is just down to luck - but in fact there are a few simple characteristics, that follow with many winners - race after race

So How do you Pick A Winner

Many people have their own method of picking winners in horse racing, however it is best to follow a good system that will make money for you

To do this all you have to do is follow the system, and you are bound to be successful. The problem is that many people give up after the first few losers - not realising that if they stick with the system, they will be successful in the end

Lets Look At Some Factors Which Are Found In Winners

It has long been known that many horses that win races share the same factors

Lets take a look at some of these

Previous Course and Distance Winners

From my experience of providing tips and finding winners on a daily basis, one of the biggest factors in a horse winning a race is the fact that the horse has won a similar race in the past. If a horse is a distance winner, this means that the horse has won a race in the past at the same distance as the current race

Lets suppose that the race today is over 5f - then any horse which has previously won in the past at 5f and say has also won on this particular course, then this has to be a good candidate for todays race also

Now obviously not every horse that has won at the course and distance will win the race today - there are other factors to consider as well, but previous course and distance wins is a very big part of the picture

Days Since The Horses Last Race

Another key factor in a horse winning a race is the number of days since it ran its last race. If a horse has been unwell or is not fit, then it will be laid off for a while until it recovers. Most horses when this happens will have a gap since their last race of probably more than 42 days

42 days is a reasonable yard stick

Now this does not mean that horses cant win if they have had a lay off - but taking part in a real race on a raceday is alot different to just practicing at home at the yard on the gallops. A horse needs to be race fit if it is to run to the best of its ability. Therefore 42 days should be regarded as a test as to wether the horse is fit

Number Of Runners In The Race

Another key factor in the form of horses is the number of runners in a race. If there are alot of runners, then horses can get boxed in behind other horses, or caught up in the problems of other horses falling. To put it simply horses can get stuck in traffic and that might mean their chance to go for the line at the end of the race might be gone completely

As a general rule I would avoid any races with more than 14 runners, and also avoid races with only 5 runners or less. In these small fields, there are often freak results and front runners are often priced at rediculously short prices, and that makes backing them almost pointless

Previous Finishing Position

An important indication of how good a horse is running at the moment can be given by looking at its previous finishing position. A horse that won its last race is obviously a better proposition than one that ran down the field. Many horses that finished first in their last race will go on and repeat the success at their next race, especially if the conditions are in the favour i.e. the horse has already won at the course and distance, and is race fit, having run its last race within the last 42 days etc - in other words adding all the other factors we have mentioned together

Position In The Betting

Another factor that can help us pin point winners in a race is the position a horse is given in the betting forecast. Generally speaking most winners come from the first five in the betting, and when you add the other factors already mentioned into the equation, this can be narrowed down to the first three

Conclusion

So here we have a few factors to take into consideration when deciding if a horse is good enough to back in a race. Now picking winners is more complicated than this, but following these simple criterea, will definately improve your betting results
